December Recap

Hello, hello! It's been quite a while hasn't it? Did you miss me? ;-) Once again it is a new year and I am doing my best to figure out a schedule that works for us. My goal is to post here once a week, preferably on Thursdays. So far, I've been able to post to my other 2 blogs right on schedule, so we'll see how this goes.

Today I thought I'd share a recap of our December. December is, of course, always super busy. I have to say that I've been pretty bad about getting my DSLR camera out and using it. Instead I just grab my phone and snap a photo, so I apologize if some of these aren't the greatest. I hope to do better this next year. Maybe you can help hold me accountable.

Note--these photos are VERY random. The only thing they have in common is that they were taken in the same month.

The first one is the new member of our family. This is Mittens. He is super cute and has definitely taken to Michelle.

Emma returned again this year, although she didn't get into nearly as much trouble as she has in the past.

The beginning of the month, I had my first ever Craft Fair. That was quite a learning experience. Lots of fun and I hope to do it again.

This here makes me very happy. My old one died--again. My super-handy, handsome hubby fixed it several times and we finally decided it was time to let it go. While I didn't want to spend that kind of money this time of year, there were some awesome deals going on right after Thanksgiving, so it seemed the right time to do it. I must say I am REALLY enjoying having two ovens.

I purposely left this shelf empty for him. This is one of his favorite spots.

Decorating cookies. These were extra cookies from a class I taught. She had fun decorating them for some church activities throughout the month.

This one has a funny story. I was working on some craft projects and had these 2 extra sparkly red circles I'd punched out from glitter paper and found that I didn't need. I asked Michelle if she wanted them to do some crafting with and she said "yes". The next thing I knew she came out of her room dressed like this. Too cute! She is always full of surprises.

Emma said it was time for some more baking.

Um, yeah, that was a busy day. I can't tell you how glad I was to have a double oven. 8+ dozen cookies and 24 gingerbread houses. I'm getting tired just looking at this photo.

The finished cookies (made these for our local bank's Open House)...

and one of the finished gingerbread houses. Definitely worth the busy days in the kitchen.

Michelle at her piano recital. She is so excited to start violin lessons this month.

One afternoon, the week before Christmas, I got a call from my mom saying she was going to come for a visit--the next day! I was so excited. She lives several states away from us and I don't get to see her often enough. I think it's the first Christmas I've spent with her since being married. We had such a fun time together, and with 2 of us working on the Christmas preparations, things got done twice as fast and we were able to sit back and relax. Mom, you need to come visit again next Christmas.

This was one of my gifts from my son. Looks pretty awesome and very expensive.

Well, it is pretty awesome, but not as expensive as I thought. What a fun gift!

These are two very happy dogs. You see our tree always goes in front of this window, so the bench is stored in our bedroom for the holidays. We took the tree down right after Christmas because Mittens was just having too much fun with the ornaments. They were so happy to have their spot back.

I will leave you with this shot of our outdoor tree. I am so glad we picked this up at a thrift store several years ago. I think it's one of my favorite decorations. It's also the one I get to enjoy the longest since it doesn't come down till spring! ;-)

Whew! I guess I took more photos than I thought. I have a couple more December photos to share, but I will save those for next week.

Till next time...
God's love and blessings!
