September Part 3

Hello there! So, how are you today? We're doing fine here in chilly, Wisconsin. Enjoying the 4 1/2 inches of snow we got this week. I know, I'm crazy, but I just love snow. It's so fun to go to bed in a fall colored world and wake up to this.
Michelle and I always get some good PE time in on snow days as we love to hike through the woods and look for animal tracks.
Looks like a deer made it through here before we did.
Actually, Michelle's favorite part is knocking the snow off the tree limbs. :o) She usually tries to knock the snow onto me, but since I had the camera out this time, she was the trail blazer and helped clear the way so I wouldn't have to crawl through.
The snow was too cold and powdery the first day, but the warmer temps helped melt it a bit and we were able to pack it together yesterday. Meet Autumn, the singing snow lady.

Well, the title says this is about September, so I should get back to that. Last year I wrote about my handsome hubby's family grill off. We went again this year, only this time we were competitors and not just spectators. Here's my man and his grill.

There was so much food! And it was so yummy! I'm so glad I was not a judge. They had the hard part-figuring out which one was the best.
What a fun way to have a get-together. Family, food, and fun competition. Did I mention yummy food? Why yes, that is chocolate, caramel covered bacon on a stick--YUMMY!
For me, though, the best part was getting to know the family better, and seeing my Mother-in-law having a good time with her siblings. She's the baby of the family and hasn't seen these guys in quite some time. I am so glad we were able to bring her out and that they had a good time reminiscing. Next time I want to be able to sit by them more, (instead of running around getting food ready) so I can hear more of their stories. So fun.
On a totally different note, I will close with a thought from our services this evening at church. We are watching a series of videos by Jim Berg. When we find ourselves in hot water (trials, everyday life situations), remember that it isn't the water that determines the flavor, but what's in the tea bag. I pray that tomorrow my cup will be full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness; but I know that will not happen unless I fill myself with Him first and allow Him to work in my life and change me into the "tea" that He desires me to be. :o)

Till next time...
God's love and blessings!

September Part 2

Sorry for the long delay. I've been busy with a couple of cakes and had little free time for blogging. But, I have a little break so I thought I'd fill you in on another of our activities back in September.

September 7th is my Baby Birdie's birthday. I still can't believe she's 10. Those 10 years went pretty quick. My Handsome Hubby and I decided to surprise her for her birthday this year. We took her and 2 of her friends on an overnight trip to a water park at (in--not really sure how to say that) Wisconsin Dells. They had no idea where we were going or what we were going to do. (Yes, the parents knew what was going on :o)

We started out with a clue that led us to the house of one of her friends who had the next clue (sealed in her invitation) that led us to the next friend who also had a clue. They had fun putting each address into Grace (our gps). This was the girls' reaction when they figured out the final destination. Yeah, they were just a little excited.

We stayed at Mr. Olympus theme park. It's a "stay and play free" park. You pay to spend the night and have free access to all 4 of their parks--indoor/outdoor amusement parks and indoor-outdoor water parks. Michelle's birthday falls just after the peak season, so our price was significantly reduced. Thankfully, the weather was beautiful that weekend. The girls enjoyed all the parks, but I think the outdoor water park was by far the favorite.
I have to include a shot of Michelle in the Birthday Shirt. For those who are new to the blog, I made this shirt back when our oldest was 3 (I think) and each year we take a photo of them in the shirt to see how they've grown. I realized when our son was about 14 that I should have bought a men's large or extra large shirt instead of a medium. We take shots of them with their arms out and ones with them holding up fingers to show how old they are, but this little birdie likes to be a ham in front of the camera. :o)
Ignore the date on here, the camera wasn't set right. It should say 9/7/2003

My, my how time does fly. Sigh, I miss that cute little baby, but at the same time, I am so proud of the beautiful young lady she is becoming. She has such a sweet spirit, and I am so blessed to be her mommy. So glad I get to home school her and have her home to play with all day. How boring my life would be without her here. Well, I better close here 'cause the waterworks are about to start flowing.

Till next time...
God's love and blessings!
